Biography

Kirsty is interested in adding value to biological research through the application and development of statistical methods. Kirsty works with a wide range of biological and agricultural applications, including data from molecular cell biology, 'omics technologies, field experiments and observational landscape studies. New technologies often pose problems to standard methods of analysis, which define a number of her current areas of interest: multivariate approaches to designed experiments; structural zeros in multivariate (incl. compositional) data; and multiplicity issues in 'omics data. More generally, Kirsty has other areas of expertise and interest: time series analysis, in particular Bayesian inference of state space models; spatial statistics; and spatio-temporal models for biological and agricultural processes.
