Biography

Jane is a natural product chemist with experience in plant metabolomics, compound isolation and characterisation by NMR and mass spectrometry. She currently leads the metabolomics team at Rothamsted Research and has more than 25 years' experience of plant metabolite analysis. Jane was instrumental in the establishment of MeT-RO, a UK service for plant metabolomics and has worked with a wide range of collaborators across the plant science community. With broad experience in plant metabolite analysis, she is currently working with woody biomass with the aim of identifying novel product streams from willow and poplar. These high value molecules will have application in industrial and pharmaceutical sectors. Allied activities also involve the understanding of the biosynthetic provenance of such molecules.
