Biography

Godfrey is a Post-doctoral research scientist at Rothamsted Research. Overall, Godfrey's research is focused on microbial pathogens (bacteria, fungi) and allergens (pollen). He uses molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, metabarcoding, next-generation sequencing), bioinformatics and optical microscopy to characterise the microorganisms. Godfrey also has expertise in atmospheric modelling, GIS and remote sensing. Godfrey’s work has so far led to 3 peer-reviewed publications in high impact journals (H-index of 2, Google scholar, August 2022) and 8 oral/poster presentations. He has guided and supervised research work of 3 visiting students. Godfrey is a member of British Society of Plant Pathology and European Aerobiology Society. He is also a reviewer for the journals Science of the Total Environment and Aerobiologia. Godfrey is skilled in grant writing-he previously won 5 travel and research exchange grants.

Previously, Godfrey worked for about 10 years in the agricultural industry with NGOs e.g. NCBA CLUSA, International Rescue Committee, VEDCO and CEFORD in Uganda. Some of the projects he successfully completed include those on crop agronomy, soil and water conservation, renewable energy, crop pest and disease management, entrepreneurship, rural savings schemes and life skills.

Godfrey's research interests include molecular microbiology, eDNA, atmospheric modelling, GIS and remote sensing and is keen to collaborate.
