Biography

Carmen is interested in the importance of carbon and nutrient cycling in agroecosystems, especially in evaluating impacts in soil properties after land-use and management changes. She has a PhD in Fundamental Biology and Systems Biology from the University of Granada (UGR). Co-supervised by the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry of the UGR and the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training of Andalusia-IFAPA, her research was focused on monitoring and modelling ecosystem services in old-fields, agricultural lands and afforestation, such as soil fertility, nutrients cycling in soils, and soil carbon sequestration. She worked as a Scientific Dissemination Technician for more than 10 years. She is involved in research that enhances soil organic carbon and others soil health indicators in grazing grasslands and agroforestry systems.
