Biography

Will is interested in the ecosystem services provided by farmland, especially those relating to water and air quality. He was awarded a PhD by Lancaster University in 2013 for the study of nutrient cycling in riparian soils. After that, Will worked at Teagasc Agriculture and Food Development Authority investigating farm nutrient management in high ecological status river catchments. He later worked at the University of Chichester with a range of partners and farmers to establish payments for ecosystem services schemes to improve water quality in six case-study catchments in the southern England and northern France. Will joined Rothamsted Research at North Wyke in 2020 working on the Novel Fertilizers for African Agriculture project. He is currently involved in several controlled environment experiments to study the efficacy of various inhibitors for reducing nutrient losses to air and water.
