Biography

Grace is a Soil Scientist in Climate and Nutrient-Smart Agriculture. Her research seeks to employ locally adaptable agricultural technologies for improving soil fertility, crop yields and grain micronutrient concentration of staple crops. Grace worked extensively on conservation agriculture, an agroecology-based approach; Integrated Soil Fertility Management, agronomic biofortification for enrichment of staple grains with micronutrient-supplying organic and inorganic fertilizers and recently; on revitalization of the agricultural extension systems in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Uganda. Her work also focused on assessing micronutrient concentration in forage and establishing links among the soil-crop-human-livestock micronutrient nexus. Grace’s work is multi-disciplinary, involving collaboration with soil and crop scientists, human nutritionists, statisticians, education, and extension professionals and with partners in industry and One CGIAR. Grace seeks to translate her experience in participatory research with smallholder farmers to different settings.
