Biography

Jonathan Storkey is a farmland ecologist, and Lead of the Agroecosystem Health and Pest Management team, who studies weeds, biodiversity, and how cropping systems can support both food production and ecosystem health. His work helps design farming systems that manage weeds sustainably while supporting pollinators, soil health, and wider biodiversity. Understanding how changing farm practices can better balance production and the environment is particularly interesting to farmers, processors and retailers promoting ‘regenerative agriculture’. Jon also has responsibility for the famous long-term experiments at Rothamsted, including a new experiment testing regenerative agriculture. He regularly hosts visits of farmers, advisors, policy makers and industry to the experiments and facilitates discussions around the evidence for more sustainable crop production and the future direction of farming in the UK.
