Biography

James is a Software Developer who has worked on the Pathogen-Host Interactions Database (PHI-base) since 2018. James maintains the PHI-Canto online curation application, the website for version 5 of PHI-base, and several software pipelines for automatically cleaning and releasing information in PHI-base. James is also responsible for ontology engineering for PHI-base, specifically for the Pathogen-Host Interaction Phenotype Ontology (PHIPO) and its integration into the Unified Phenotype Ontology (uPheno) and for integrating information from PHI-base with the Ensembl Genomes project and the Gene Ontology Annotation Database.

James has contributed to several focus groups in ELIXIR Europe, including the Biocuration Focus Group, the Professionalising Careers in Research Infrastructure Focus Group, and the Pathogen Data Focus Group.
