The big picture: using wildflower strips for pest control
Agroecosystem Health and Pest Management
An interdisciplinary researcher working on the intersection of farming method, policy and nutrition, James is part of the PhD research programme run by management body UKFS-CDT, with awarding university City St. George's, University of London. James is studying how antioxidant levels in wheat alter as a consequence of organic, conventional, and regenerative methods. He is utilising the LSRE experimental sites at Rothamsted, as well as wheat samples across the UK. His research will also examine social and cultural influences on farm management choices, specifically relating to SFI, as well as how policy has impacted on-farm interventions. This includes a review of global policy mechanisms that have been developed by governments and organisations linking agriculture with health outcomes.
An experienced grower, James has worked in mixed arable, and as a horticultural lead. His expertise lies in organic and no-till/no-dig management, and policy approaches in the organic and regenerative sector.
