Biography

Charity is currently undertaking a collaborative SWBio DTP funded project between Rothamsted Research and the University of Exeter. Her project titled ‘Characterising secondary metabolite-based aphid resistance mechanisms from ancestral introgressions into modern wheat’, seeks to characterise volatile organic compound (VOC) and secondary metabolite (SM)-based resistance mechanisms through established germplasm resources (modern, ancestral and introgressed cereal lines). This is a highly multidisciplinary project spanning entomology, chemical ecology, analytical chemistry, bioinformatics and genetics fields.
