The big picture: using wildflower strips for pest control
Engineering Biology for Agriculture
Dr Catherine Famelton investigates how sugar signalling shapes wheat yield formation, uniting physiology, biochemistry and genetics. She collaborates with spin-out SugaROx to optimise a biostimulant for sustainable wheat yield improvement.
Catherine received a BA in Biology from the University of Oxford, specialising in plant molecular biology. She completed an interdisciplinary PhD with the University of Birmingham, the John Innes Centre, Norwich, and RAGT Seeds, in which she identified a novel transcriptional regulator of wheat senescence, and translated findings into genetic tools for wheat breeding.
