The big picture: using wildflower strips for pest control
Translating Biotic Interactions
Alex is a chemical ecologist/ biological chemist with particular focus on phytochemistry and plant-insect interactions. He carried out his PhD in the chemical ecology group at Rothamsted Research in which he investigated the aphid resistance mechanisms in ancient einkorn wheat. He has since carried out post-doctoral positions within Rothamsted across a range of multidisciplinary projects, including investigating the biophysical mechanisms of insect olfaction and investigating the biochemical targets of herbicides.
Alex has expertise in analytical chemistry & metabolomics, entomology, insect electrophysiology, molecular biology and phytochemistry/plant biochemistry.
