The big picture: using wildflower strips for pest control
They may be beautiful, but these strips prove pretty deadly for every farmer's mortal enemy: aphids
Translating Biotic Interactions
Adilia is an SWBio DTP PhD student working with wheat rhizosphere Pseudomonas and their natural products. Her project is focusing on compounds with activity against wheat pathogens, particularly Zymoseptoria tritici. Adilia is using bioinformatics tools to identify novel biosynthetic gene clusters with putative antifungal activity in bacterial genomes. She then explores those biosynthetic gene clusters and associated secondary metabolites using molecular biology and analytical chemistry methods.
