About

A plant makes its own sugar but must use it wisely to grow and survive. How does a plant sense its sugar level? At Rothamsted Research, we are finding out - and using the knowledge to help one of the world’s biggest crops, wheat. Join us on a journey from the discovery of a plant sugar sensor, to how it is inspiring a new technology to boost wheat yields. Settle in for a story of wheat, sugar and innovation from Rothamsted scientist, Dr Catherine Evans.

Café Scientifique is a place where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to explore the latest ideas in science and technology. Meetings take place in cafes, bars, restaurants and even theatres, but always outside a traditional academic context. Anyone is welcome to come and learn something new, ask questions, and join in the discussion.
