BIOGRAPHY

Taro is an agricultural economist based at Sustainable Agriculture Sciences Department. Originally trained as a mathematical economist, his research interests surround the roles of agriculture in the wider society, and include bioeconomic modelling and life cycle assessment of farming systems, as well as programme evaluation studies and general equilibrium modelling of farming-based economies. Taro is a co-investigator for Soil to Nutrition (S2N), a BBSRC Institutional Strategic Programme (2017-2022), and for the North Wyke Farm Platform (NWFP), a BBSRC National Capability programme to improve the sustainability of pasture-based livestock production systems. He is an Assistant Editor for Wiley’s agricultural economic journal, Agribusiness.

Taro obtained a PhD in Economics from the Australian National University, and has previously worked for School of Agricultural and Wine Sciences, Charles Sturt University (Australia) and Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the University of Tokyo (Japan). Jointly appointed between Rothamsted and University of Bristol, he holds the position of Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Livestock Systems and Food Security at the university’s Bristol Veterinary School.
