Stelian's research interests mainly include time series analysis, modelling and forecasting. The focus of his research has been on time domain statistical analysis of hydrometeorological variables, such as temperature, precipitation, soil moisture and so on. His PhD project gives him the opportunity to apply his skills in statistics to answer key questions related to agricultural research. The goal of his project is to apply extreme value analysis on measured and simulated data that can be vital to grasslands research, especially in relation to climate change and food and soil security. His solid background in mathematics and engineering allows him to easily gain a good understanding of various statistical methods. He can apply advanced data analysis techniques on different datasets due to his highly developed programming skills, which include R, MATLAB, SimaPro and other software.
