Rohan is a Reading PhD student based at Rothamsted. He has a broad skill set in Agronomy and Biotechnology, and his core expertise is on crop genetics, particularly wheat. Rohan is working on a mapping population of bread wheat in order to identify quantitative loci (QTL) linked to key baking quality and stability traits. He will make QTL validation using Near Isogenic Lines. Once QTL is validated, Rohan will conduct expression analysis, protein purification and identification in order to start the characterization of the underlying molecular pathway.
Rohan completed an engineering degree at ISARA-LYON(France), and an MSc in plant ecophysiology and breeding at the University of Clermont-Auvergne (France). Before his PhD, he worked short-term in the breeding company KWS SAAT in Einbeck, Germany, where he developed knowledge in quantitative genetic methods.
