Dr RAFAEL HOMEM
Biointeractions and Crop Protection
Rafael is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms underpinning insecticide tolerance in beneficial insects, such as honey bees, and the development of resistance to insecticides in pest insects. He has been using the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, as a genetically tractable model organism to uncover some of these mechanisms. Rafael is also interested in developing transformation technologies in non-model insects.
