Dr NAZANIN PESARAN AFSHARYAN
Plant Genomics Scientist
Nazanin is a plant geneticist with expertise in multidisciplinary approaches in quantitative/molecular plant genetics, data analysis and bioinformatics. She is currently working on a multi-omics project in collaboration with scientists from University College London and University of Cambridge which aims to explore what determines protein abundance in plants.
Her previous work involved a series of research exploring influence of environment on crop development and yield under normal and drought stress conditions in a barley multi-parental (MAGIC) population. This led to discovering novel epistatic regulators that control environment-dependent regulation of flowering time as well as novel regulators that showed favourable effect on yield under drought. Currently, she is doing research exploring variations in genomic, epigenomic and transcriptomic levels using Arabidopsis MAGIC population that will help to investigate the connection between plant phenotype and protein abundance.
