BIOGRAPHY

Nathalie has moved from a strictly biological background, via software development and scientific software support, to developing and maintaining databases for scientific information. During her PhD in insecticide resistance, she gained interest in computers and their use to help science. She learned skills on the job. Nathalie uses SQL in general, in two flavours, MSSQL and MySQL; she has a range of web skills (html, css, php, javascript); and she has a firm grasp of users' capabilities. At the moment, she works mainly within the electronic Rothamsted Archive (e-RA) project, which aims to store and deliver data from the long-term and classical experiments (http://www.era.rothamsted.ac.uk/). The tools hide from the users the complexity of the data without diminishing their power. Rothamsted Research is about to launch her latest application: a site to deliver digital copies of the institute’s public documents. Nathalie is also the web master for the monogram website, which is the platform for grass and grain research in the UK.
