LAURA CROOK

BIOGRAPHY

Laura is a weed ecologist. She previously worked on UK grass and broad-leaved species, looking at the relationship between seed size and seedling traits; her main focus now is grass weeds. Her other main interest is engaging with stakeholders to disseminate research to end users. Laura very much enjoys attending events and speaking to farmers and representatives of the farming industry. Laura's main work involves managing the glasshouse experiments and she is an efficient and organised part of the team. Laura is currently working on herbicide resistance in Alopecurus myosuroides (black-grass). She has been involved in collecting samples from across the country, testing these for different herbicide resistance and conducting further research into the quantitative genetic traits of various populations created during subsequent experiments. This will hopefully provide a better understanding of the mechanisms underpinning the resistance in black-grass.
