BIOGRAPHY

John is the Experimental Farm Systems Manager working on laboratory, plot, field and farm scale research projects that focus on plant and soil science, and nutrient cycling through agricultural systems. His work centres around the North Wyke Farm Platform National Capability where he leads research in the soils and biology work package and champions arable systems within the Farm Platform, John’s work also extends to agronomic management of the wider North Wyke farm estate.

John has a keen interest in agronomy and integrated farm management; he has expertise in nutrient management planning and crop protection. He is a member of the BASIS professional register and is both a FACTS qualified advisor and holds a BASIS Certificate in crop protection. He also has experience of investigating emissions of ammonia and greenhouse gases from agricultural sources, particularly on the storage of livestock slurry and manures.
