Jing’s expertise lies in the isolation, culturing and storage of Zymoseptoria tritici (Zt) strains from leaf samples; fungicide sensitivity testing of Zt strains, in vitro and in planta; DNA extraction of Septoria/Rhynchosporium infected leaf samples and fungal strains; PCR, (Pyro)sequencing and DNA-based diagnostics to quantify pathogen infection levels and detect fungicide resistance mechanisms; assistance in report writing and data analysis; and general lab duties to support the fungicide research team. Her key research interests include the identification and characterisation of azole sensitivity shifts in UK populations of Mycosphaerella graminicola, sampled from HGCA-fungicide performance winter wheat trials from 2014 to 2018.
