HELENA TAYLOR
Soil and Plant Laboratory Technician
Sustainable Soils and Crops
BIOGRAPHY
Helena supports research projects as part of the science and operations field team. With previous experience in a routine microbiology lab, her main expertise is laboratory work, and in preparing soil and herbage samples for further analysis. She is now well practised in methods, such as nitrogen and phosphorus extractions, bulk density, PH, soil organic matter and microbalancing. Although part-time, she prepared all 700 soil cores sampled for the SUREROOT project, including separating and grinding roots. She also works out in the field when required, collecting samples, and has spent much time gas sampling for the greenhouse gas team. Helena is always keen to learn new techniques for new projects when required.
