BIOGRAPHY
Damon obtained his PhD in molecular toxicology from the University of Leicester (MRC Toxicology Unit) in 2000. He developed an interest in oxidative stress while working as a research associate in the chemical pathology department at the University of Leicester. He was later appointed to the post of senior research fellow at the University of Aberdeen in the department of immunity, inflammation and infection before he moved into contract research for the agrochemical industry. Damon has published in peer reviewed journals and written successful grant applications on a wide range of topics that focused on inflammatory and immune responses, particularly the role of targeted antioxidants. He has taught on BSc, MSc and MBChB courses. He has collaborated with many national and international partners including industry. He also reviews for a number of basic science journals and grant awarding bodies. Damon is one of two grant development managers within the grants and international office at Rothamsted Research, where he uses his written and spoken communication skills to analyse complex information to provide strategic, editorial and technical expertise to help to drive the development of applications for all types of research funding.
