BIOGRAPHY

Damiano is a plant biotechnologist who works as a genome editing specialist in the Plant Sciences Department. His main duty is transferring CRISPR/Cas9 technology to hexaploid bread wheat with the aim of improving the efficiency of genome editing in this crop. His skills range from genome editing, plant transformation and tissue culture, cloning, plant genetics, and microscopy. He is collaborating with different research groups to identify target genes to be mutagenised using CRISPR/Cas9-based technology. He is actively involved with AIRIcerca (International Association of Italian Researchers), disseminating and promoting scientific news, and he recently joined the Rothamsted Research STEM ambassador programme.
