BIOGRAPHY
Andy is a third-year PhD student based at Rothamsted Research in Devon conducting research into the optimisation of pasture-based sheep production systems. His current project investigates attributing value to different types of information (including livestock and pasture growth information) recorded on-farm and ultimately aims to develop a suite of performance indicators which can be used by both farmers and consultants to identify areas for improvement within a production system.
Prior to starting his PhD, Andy worked in Cornwall as a dairy herdsman while conducting a Research Masters investigating consumer willingness to pay for ‘speciality’ dairy products. Andy has had a long involvement with agriculture since growing up on a dairy farm in Somerset and hopes his research will help to support farmers in improving the profitability and viability of their respective production systems.
