ANCHEN KEHLER
PhD Student
Sustainable Soils and Crops
BIOGRAPHY
Anchen is a PhD student working in collaboration with Lancaster University. Her project investigates reduced phosphorus species and their cycling transformations within the soil system. The aim is to shed light on the importance of these under-investigated groups of compounds, highlighting the roles they play in environmental redox systems.
Climate change is a large focus for this research, as global soils face drastic changes over the coming years; with some of the most pressing issues centred around phosphorus. Utilisation, losses and recycling of reduced P are the primary focus of this project. Anchen has a background in Chemistry, encompassing a large range of analytical techniques, with most recent projects focussed on the environmental aspects of chemistry. She also has microbiological experience through recent projects.
