FARMING IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND
There are a wealth of tools and applications that today’s farmer can utilise from their smart phone, tablet or farm computer. Rothamsted Research has been working with a huge wealth of data from our site at North Wyke; which is the most instrumented farm in the world, along with our network of farms from around the globe and a number of research projects in the UK.
The challenge all of these tools face and try to resolve is how to minimise the amount of data a farmer needs to input, while providing useful, compliant and accurate outputs to assist farmers & growers in making viable decisions. Within this webinar we have brought together five of these data-based programmes, to discuss how they have translated data from figures, to farm specific information at your fingertips.
The Farm Crap App Pro is a new generation of the award winning manure and slurry nutrient management app developed and available free in the UK – Find out more about this application, how you can use it on your farm and the new features developed as part of the new pro version. New features include compliance with Nitrate Vulnerable Zone regulations, the new Farming for Water rules alongside the ability to truly integrate manure and slurry applications with bagged fertiliser to allow for environmental protection and economic benefits. - Dr Robert Dunn of Rothamsted Research & Becky Wilson of Duchy College will present and take your questions on the Farm Crap App Pro.

CROPROTECT provides a free pest, weed and disease management app. The system provides farmers, growers and agronomists with guidance on pest, weed and disease management, especially in situations where effective pesticides are not available and alternative approaches are required. The presentation will include new app features and those in development from Laura Crook Rothamsted Research.
Viz Ag & The SPACSYS Model – Be the first to find out about Viz Ag, with an exclusive pre-launch presentation from the world leading research centre, Rothamsted Research North Wyke. The project is currently developing a portable, decision-support tool helping arable and livestock farmers make yield predictions for crops and forage; plus informing other management decisions related to soil carbon and nitrogen budgets, soil water content and discharge; and expected financial gains or losses. - Dr Paul Harris Rothamsted Research
Soil Carbon – The Soil Carbon project aims to develop protocols for measuring and valuing soil health and carbon sequestration that are scientifically robust and practical. The use of spatial data in Soil Carbon analysis for a field/farm scale study of carbon sequestration and soil health is being led by Rothamsted Research within the partnership project with Duchy College and Plymouth University. This presentation will investigate how detailed grid sampling of soil carbon has been linked with spatial data analysis to determine differences across farms and fields in their soil carbon and how these link with management practices. Will Razey, Dr Andy Neal & Dr Paul Harris – Rothamsted Research
Farm Carbon Cutting Calculator - The Farm Carbon Consultancy are committed to supporting farmers and organisations to understand and take action on their farm’s carbon emissions. With the increasing spotlight on climate crisis, pollution and biodiversity loss, we have 10 years of experience offering technical and educational services, enabling farmers and the wider industry to build their expertise and confidence around tackling carbon emissions. Becky Wilson will be speaking about their free Farm Carbon Toolkit and Farm Carbon Calculator and how these tools can help your farm monitor and manage it’s carbon.
Q & A Session
The speakers will then form a panel to answer the questions you have posed throughout the webinar.
