ABOUT
Our team led by Dr Smita Kurup (Ms Kirstie Halsey, Ms Hannah Walpole) has specialist expertise in microscopy as well as a sound understanding of cell biology. This knowledge base allows us to provide training and guidance throughout your project, from determining the best equipment to use to the logistics around imaging your samples themselves.
We provide light, fluorescence, and electron microscopy services. Our equipment includes 2 JEOL scanning electron microscopes, a JEOL JEM 2100Plus high-resolution transmission electron microscope, a Leica Stellaris 8 Falcon confocal laser microscope along with several fluorescence and light stereo and upright microscopes. In addition, we have a Leica HPM100 high pressure freezer for sample preparation along with traditional sample preparation and sectioning equipment. Our electron microscopes have Quorum cryo-preparation systems necessary for the observation of biological specimens. In addition, these microscopes also allow Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) for elemental analysis. Please scroll down further for a more detailed description of our equipment and capabilities.
If you are an external client, we are very willing to discuss any bioimaging requirements that you may have. We routinely work with external clients; universities, institutes and companies on a collaborative or full service basis nationally and internationally.
