Ladybirds in pest control

We grow plants such as strawberries, spinach and maize to eat. Insects also like to eat these plants, something we don't want, so ways of getting rid of these insect pests are invented. One way is to use predators to eat plant eating insects, this is called biological control. A familiar example follows:
- Aphids eat plants, making them weak or killing them, bad news for the farmer .
- Ladybirds eat lots of aphids, this means healthy plants and lots of food for us!
