These images of electron micrographs of plant viruses represent the work of many people in the department over many years. This involved growing plants in the glasshouses, inoculating the plants, purifying the viruses, looking at the virus particles using the electron microscopes, photographing the images and finally digitally scanning the photographs and displaying them in these WWW pages.

Although it would be impossible to name everyone involved, mention should be made of Roy Woods, Phil Jones and Sheila Roberts for their skills in electron microscopy and photography. Many thanks are alse due to Adrian Ball of the Computing and Electronics Department at Rothamsted for advice on computers and networks and for help in scanning the photographs and setting up these WWW pages.
