Animated Dictionnary Definition

Centrifugation

Act of submitting a sample to centrifugal force, by putting it in a device that rotates at high speed. The process of centrifugation helps separate compounds in a solution. For example, the centrifugation of a medium where bacteria have developed will bring them down in a pellet at the bottom of the tube.
