Anaerobic


An organism is anaerobic when it can survive without oxygen. An obligate anaerobic can't survive in the presence of oxygen. A facultative anaerobe can switch between being anaerobic and aerobic.
Similarly, a metabolic pathway is anaerobic if it doesn't require oxygen.
