Famous researcher Profile

Monod, Jacques. 9 Feb 1910 - 31 may 1976.

In 1961, Monod and Jacob proposed the existence of messenger RNA (ribonucleic acid). They then suggested that certain genes, or operator genes, regulate the activity of other, protein-synthesizing, genes by affecting the formation of messenger RNA. In 1970, Monod wrote "Chance and Necessity", a philosophical work in which he concluded that humans are the product of chance, an accident in the universe.
