Metabolic Regulation: Metabolomics

Plant Metabolite Profiling

Research Leader: Professor Mike Beale

Plant 'metabolomic' projects

GARNet GARNet logo

The GARNet Arabidopsis functional genomics project includes a metabolite profiling service at RRes. Within this project a range of analytical techniques is applied to metabolite profiling of Arabidopsis mutants and transgenics. A database of Arabidopsis constituents is being built along with libraries of mass spectral data. For information on the GARNet metabolite profiling service see the GARNet web site.

Wheat metabolite profiling

A new project funded by the Food Standards Agency aims to compare the metabolome of GM and non-GM wheat grown in a variety of different environments. The aims here are to define the natural variability in the wheat metabolome and on this basis identify any unintended changes caused by genetic modification.
