Broom's Barn Applied Crop Sciences
Modelling
Dr Aiming Qi
Research Group Leader
Objectives
The main objectives of this group are to:- test biological hypotheses expressed as mathematical and statistical models that can be used to analyse, evaluate and translate experimental data into agronomic knowledge
- ensure that data are collected, managed, analysed and interpreted using the best available methods
- develop software and databases that facilitate the scientific research, decision-making and technology transfer
Main Research Projects and Interests
- Analysis of the gap between achievable yield and actual yield
- Yield response models for determining cost-effectiveness of inputs
- Forecasting yield, disease occurrences and severities
- Opportunities for and threats to arable crop yields under climatic and agronomic changes
- Decision support systems based on a crop growth and yield simulator
