Biomathematics and Bioinformatics

Head of Department: Prof. Chris Rawlings
Deputy Head of Department: Frank Van den Bosch

The Biomathematics and Bioinformatics Department has been created to research and develop mathematical, statistical and computational solutions to biological problems at all levels of biological scale. Indeed field and landscape studies need to be complemented with the theoretical and in-silico models necessary to plan and interpret these experiments. Novel approaches to the integration and interpretation of complex and noisy datasets are also developed. The Department aims therefore to promote excellence in biological research through participating in collaboration, consulting and training in the design of experiments, data analysis and interpretation.
