The Institute comprises three main laboratories

 » Rothamsted at Harpenden, Hertfordshire
» Broom's Barn, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
 » North Wyke, Okehampton, Devon

Although the three sites are in different parts of England, their research activities are co-ordinated within a single management structure. About 650 staff including 80 visiting researchers and 60 postgraduates - many from abroad - work at Rothamsted Research sites.

The Institute is renowned nationally and internationally for its leading-edge research and for its multidisciplinary expertise and emphasis on interaction across the full range of scientific disciplines. It is this which allows Rothamsted Research to bring a truly integrated approach to crop research.
