Using maths to fight the alien invadersTuesday 9th October 2012Mathematical models play a key role in determining effective strategies for the prevention and control of infectious diseases such as Sudden Oak Death, Citrus HLB disease (threatening the citrus industry) and Bluetongue (a disease of cattle and sheep). Scientists from Rothamsted, the Pirbright Institute and Embrapa (Brazil) will be discussing ways in which mathematical models can help win the battle.
