Collections

Rothamsted Library is one of the oldest specialist agricultural collections in the UK. The Library reflects the Institute's research interests with comprehensive collections of books and journals in soil science, plant sciences, agronomy, entomology (including apiculture), nematology, pesticide science, plant diseases, mycology and biomathematics. Around 3000 journals titles are held, of which about 750 are current print or electronic journal subscriptions.

The Library also includes three special collections

› about 3500 early books on agriculture, published 1471 - 1840, including 13 incunabula
› 200 prints and paintings of British farm livestock 1780 - 1910, the bequest of Lord Northbrook
› archival material relating to the foundation and early years of Rothamsted
